Shining a Light on Red Light Therapy

At La Casa, we believe in Red Light. We need to think  about light as a neecessary nutrient, like food  and water. La Casa has long used various applications of red light, including our MyLightWave device, and our RejuvaPod.

Our newest addition is the  FireWave. Read what Kris Sweeting, creator of this Far and Near combo InfraRed device, says, and you’ll see why we are so excited to include this as part of the La Casa Experience. To benefit, all you have  to do is sit in the reception area. (No charge for sitting, sipping tea in our gorgeous tropical room.) ) Or have a  more intense experience of a Light Bath with this FireWave, as well as our Vitamin D and full spectrum lights.

The most effective wavelengths in the red and near-infrared spectrum are 630 and 670, 760 and 830nm. However 760 has been found to be an “inactive” wavelength

(see graph below).

Skin Rejuvenation

Red and near infrared therapy stimulates metabolic activity in the skin’s fibroblasts, increasing collagen production. Here is a picture from another study showing collagen concentrations before and after 12 weeks of red light therapy. It has also shown to decrease gene expression associated with skin aging.

But what wavelengths are best for achieving this? In the medical literature, it showed that combining 630nm with 830nm resulted in the most significant increase in collagen. This is because the action spectra for tissue regeneration consists of more than 1 wavelength of light. Combining wavelengths can result in synergy!

Can light therapy regrow hair? Absolutely, near infrared light, 830nm is the best. Red and near infrared light has also been shown to increase hair growth. It does this through a multitude of mechanisms that result in an environment that allows the hair follicle to thrive.

Actually in the medical literature, increases between 50 and 100% in actual hair count are not uncommon. That’s double the amount of hair, not even taking into account increases in hair shaft diameter or tensile strength. Pretty incredible.

Near infrared light therapy has also been shown to increase muscle acquisition by 2x or 50%. In a study performed on two identical twins, one twin used near infrared light therapy directly after working out. The twin who used the light therapy gained 2x the muscle of the other twin. Everything else was the same including diet, workout protocol, environment etc. That’s double muscle — 2x the gains in the gym. That’s unmatched in the body building arena. The only thing that can come close is anabolic steroids and these drugs can have long term health consequences. On the other hand, red light therapy has almost no documented adverse effects.

Based on our many online reviews, all have had fantastic times!

“The house is located in a beautiful area inside the Yunque national Park. I loved the experience of falling sleep with the sound of the rainforest. Excellent communication with the hostess!”

                                      -Alicia

“We loved our stay here!”

                                      -Sol

“If you want to experience what it’s like to live in the jungle, this is the place. The views are beautiful and the sounds that come out at night are incredible. The outdoor shower was a fun experience. It’s no five star hotel but you get a good feel for what the real Puerto Rico is.”

                                 -Sylvain

“Fresh fruit from the trees, a beautiful view, and amazing yunque sounds. Loved waking to the sunrise looking over such beauty.”

                                     -Nick

“This Airbnb is tucked away from the main roads so it has amazing views. It’s conveniently located near El Yunque. From our room we could hear the sounds of wildlife (frogs, roosters, etc.) which was amazing! Things to note before booking is that there are cats which live on the property and some showers are outdoors. If neither of those is an issue for you, then this is a great place to stay! The owner and manager were both friendly and generous.”

WSJ Confirms Jane’s Hormesis Theories

A recent article in the Wall Street Journal (click HERE to read in full) questioned the government’s position that all radiation is bad for you (in spite of the fact that all life came from and continues to come from radiation.) The article confirms Jane’s findings on the therapeutic efficacy of low-level radiation, written about in her book, The Hormesis Effect, and seen in her documentary, Because People Are Dying. In her book, and the video, Jane tells the awesome and compelling story of saving her little dog Lilly’s life, through the application of PEMF and radioactive stones to make hormesis water.

She also describes the Japanese research on the survivors of Nagasaki and Hiroshima, showing that after the bombs, those who were exposed to no radiation have died sooner than those who were exposed to low-level amounts.

Jane also describes Bernie Cohen’s research, the largest epidemiological study ever conducted in the U.S. Cohen surveyed 90 percent of the counties in the U.S. for cancer rates, and then for radon amounts. He fully expected to see a hi radon/hi cancer correlation. He didn’t. He saw the opposite. Hi radon/low cancer. He didn’t believe the results. So he repeated the whole study 5 years later, slicing up the data in various ways to control for possible confounding influences. Same result. His response this time was to go down into his basement and turn off his radon eliminator. Read in Jane’s book how this multi-million dollar business was created out of pseudo/wrong science.

Hormesis water is easy to make. All you need is a little piece of thorium stone. Email Jane if you are interested (janegoldberg@

janegoldbergphd.com),

and she will give you Faye Gutierrez’s (widow of Jay, who mined the stones before his untimely and unusual death) contact info to order the stones.

A Warning About Bad Avocados

  by Richard Harvey

Over the years, I have either thrown away thousands of dollars of avocados or brought them back to the store. They have always taken them back. It’s very important not to eat avocados that are stringy inside, or brown. Brown is mold; fungus.

To test avocados you just flick the stem off. If it’s green inside the hole, the avocado is usually okay. If it’s brown, it’s not. The video HERE is an extreme example, but any brown spots are not good. Furthermore, any brown or grey around the pit means the avocado has been radiated and is harmful and useless nutritionally.

Remember:
Cancer is a fungus.

Puerto Rico…

LIFESTYLE TRUMPS GENES

“Life-style trumps genes” is one of the most important lessons on health that I want to impart. My mother and sister were both dead of cancer long before they reached the age that I am currently (72). Pictures above are of me on my 72nd birthday, two months ago. I am healthy, have no diseases, live an active lifestyle (swim, run, do yoga), and am a 50-year vegetarian. Yet, according to genetic predictions, I should probably be dead. Statistical estimates are that I have a 16 times higher chance of getting cancer than someone without my genetic history. Rather than dying, I thrive in my lifestyle, my age, and my infinite curiosity. CURIOSITY is the CURE.

My mother was my first inspiration/lesson about the reversibility of cancer.

I created La Casa Spa and Wellness Center long before holistic medicine was widely known. My mother and I spent the 1970s seeking alternative cancer therapies because she had been diagnosed with breast cancer mestaticized to terminal bone cancer. Following sound principles of holistic health, my mother was able to reverse her cancer condition entirely, moving from her wheelchair to joyfully playing tennis again.

After my father died, my mother’s cancer came roaring back with a vengeance. I understand the resurgance of my mother’s illness to be entirely related to the loss of her one-and-only-beloved.

These experiences — of my mother getting sick, my mother fully reversing terminal cancer, and my mother’s cancer coming back after the biggest emotional loss of her life — inspired me to specialize in my psychoanalytic practice to work with cancer patients, and to fulfill the need for a holistic healing center. La Casa started as a destination holistic center in the rain forest jungle  of Puerto Rico, and then in the urban jungle of NYC. I invite my readers, and all others, to partake of the restorative and profoundly cleansing therapies that have brought La Casa world-wide recognition. A personal note: there is not a single therapy offered at both La Casas that I have not incorportated into my own lifestyle.
