Revolution in Blood Medicine – Intranasal Laser Therapy, By Dr. Mark Sircus

Musings from 20th Street

I am most pleased that Mark Sircus has given me permission to reproduce his recent article on Intranasal Laser Therapy in its entirety. This is a device I have been using for several years, and find it to be highly effective for multple conditions.

Check at the end of the article for research studies on the device, and for further information on VieLight’s two newest devices, the Gamma (for memory) and Beta (for neurological disorders).

Thank you, Mark, and best of luck in your opening of your new center, Sanctuary, deep in the jungle of Brazil.

Revolution in Blood Medicine –

Intranasal Laser Therapy
By Dr. Mark Sircus

AC., OMD, DM (P)
Director International Medical Veritas Association
Doctor of Oriental and Pastoral Medicine

Until now, to have one’s blood treated, one would have to use all kinds of sophisticated equipment that was expensive and dangerous. No longer. For low cost and with no threat of toxic side-effects one can safely treat one’s blood at home, expecting the same broad positive medical effects doctors have seen when using older equipment that required surgical procedures.

Intranasal light therapy literally stimulates the blood capillaries in the nasal cavity is a very non-invasive method to introduce therapeutic light energy into the human body through the blood. This form of nonionizing radiation on biological systems offers health and medical benefits including effects on cognitive performance, fighting free radicals, combatting Alzheimer’s symptoms and more. The FDA has approved infrared therapy for everything from eliminating microbes and fungus in the human body to killing cancer cells. The Biomat is one example and now we can add Intranasal Laser Therapy to our list of extremely friendly and convenient medial treatments.

Mitochondria are the key to photo-biomodulation. Mitochondria have a substance called cytochrome c oxidase that can absorb red and NIR light, converting the photonic energy into a form of biological energy called adenosine triphosphate or “ATP.” Cytochrome c oxidase is commonly accepted as a photo acceptor that catalyzes cellular level activity when red to near-infrared red light hit the cells.

The new simple nasal applicator devices replace machines like these below where doctors had to shunt the blood outside the body or to import, through catheter type injection, the agent of treatment, which in this case is coherent infrared laser light. When monochromatic photons of low intensity irradiate blood, the flexibility of red blood cells improves. They separate from each other and can thus receive oxygen across their entire surface area.

Blood washing back-transfusion therapy and intravascular laser irradiation therapy are costly dangerous medical procedures that can now be done easily, safely and inexpensively in one’s own home. Compared to intravenous laser blood irradiation, nasal laser irradiation for 20 minutes scored 80% as effective. But if increased to 30 minutes, remarkable 98% are reached.

Now it is easy to use light to activate the healing properties of the blood. One just clips the applicator in the nose and infrared laser light is applied to the passing blood. Dangerous medical equipment has now been replaced by a little nasal applicator that does not do anything more aggressive than spraying coherent infrared laser light into the blood as it passes by the vessels in the nose.

The laser beam footprint targets the nasal cavity, which is rich in blood capillaries. The device parameters have been derived from researching clinical studies on low level light therapy over the last few decades. Although many researchers now believe that the outcomes between low level laser and the non-laser light emitting diodes (LED) to be similar, the laser light should penetrate deeper into the tissues. Both types of light are available and the device shown above emits both laser and LED that can be used simultaneously. One can multitask treatment using the laser for the nasal applicator and the LED for treatment of skin problems and problems below the skin.

Why Treat the Blood?

Chinese medicine’s definition of Blood is different from Western medicine’s definition. Yes, it’s the red stuff in the veins that nourishes the organs, circulates, warms, heals and the like. However, in the eyes of Chinese medicine, Blood is enlivened with energy (Qi), which moves the Blood through the body so it can nourish every aspect of our body from the skin and muscles to the brain and deep organs. It is the quality of Blood circulating through our systems that helps give us vitality, focus and even rosy cheeks.

When Blood is abundant we feel alive, nourished and well connected. Blood does more than run through our veins and oxygenate cells. It ensures we have nourishment and moisture for the entire body. Blood keeps our tendons, skin and hair healthy, strong and flexible. It lubricates joints and allows for smooth movement. Blood also nourishes the mind and is considered the material basis for mental activity. Strong Blood ensures good sleep and helps us wake feeling rested.

Modern Medicine and Laser Therapy

Laser energy at 630-640 nanometers is arguably the most effective for irradiation of blood and the vascular wall. Photons at this wavelength are absorbed by oxygen, improve microcirculation, can change the viscosity of the blood and affect vascular endothelium. More than 25 years of experience of using laser energy at 630-640 nm has shown that this waveband directly influences the parameters of all cells in the blood, blood plasma, the coagulation process and all the structural components of the vascular wall.

The treatment, using photons of infrared wavelength improves the rheological characteristics of the blood and microcirculation; with normalisation of parameters of hormonal, immune, reproductive and many other systems. Intranasal Laser Therapy improves the viscosity of blood and profile of lipids thus the treatment is associated with improvements in cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases via improvements of the rheological properties of blood. Under laser blood irradiation, anti-inflammatory effects were observed that improved the immunologic activity of the blood.

With intravenous irradiation medical scientists have reported that the hypoxia of the tissue is improved which leads to a normalization of the tissue metabolism. In addition, the fibrinolysis will be activated. Apart from the elimination of hypoxia and the normalization of tissue metabolism an increase of ATP-synthesis occurs with a normalization of cell membrane potential.

Low level laser therapy (LLLT) has been investigated and used clinically for over 30 years, mostly in Eastern Europe and Asia. The ability of lasers to cut, cauterize, and destroy tissue is well known throughout the medical world. However, its role at lower power is less well appreciated. The ability to non-thermally and non-destructively change cell function is known as laser bio-stimulation and is the basis for the current use of lasers in a number of medical fields.

Most reports are in Russian and the basis for clinical research and practice was first established in Moscow in 1986. The Institute of Laser Medicine was formed through a union of 14 laser centers from different parts of Russia. LLLT emerged as a potential therapeutic modality because of the conversion of military production into areas of commercial practice including medicine. The correct wavelength for the target cells or chromophores must be employed (633-810 nm). If the wavelength is incorrect, optimum absorption will not occur and as the first law of photobiology states, the Grotthus-Draper law, without absorption there can be no reaction.

The aggregating property of red blood cells was first described by John Hunter in 1786 and was long considered to be principally of pathophysiologic importance since aggregation is elevated in many disease states; hence the term “blood sludging” coined by M. H. Knisely to describe the phenomenon.

“The apparent viscosity of blood depends on the existing shear forces (i.e., blood behaves as a non-Newtonian fluid) and is determined by hematocrit, plasma viscosity, Red Blood Cell RBC aggregation, and the mechanical properties of RBCs. RBCs are highly deformable, and this physical property significantly contributes to aiding blood flow both under bulk flow conditions and in the microcirculation,” write Drs. Baskurt and Meiselman.

One study showed transcranial and intranasal photobiomodulation (PBM) therapy in the near-infrared (NIR) 810nm wavelength improves cognition in dementia. Their protocol involved weekly, in-clinic use of a combined transcranial-plus-intranasal PBM device; and daily at-home intranasal-only PBM device. Participants reported better sleep, fewer angry outbursts, less anxiety and less wandering. After the 4-Week, No-Treatment follow-up, some declines were noted. No adverse events were related to the treatments. Results from this controlled study are the first to report significant cognitive improvement in dementia participants following PBM treatments.

Red blood cells (RBCs) exhibit a unique deformability, which enables them to change shape reversibly in response to an external force. The deformability of RBCs allows them to flow in microvessels while transporting oxygen and carbondioxide. Low level laser therapy can affect the physical as well as chemical properties of blood cells which is not only helpful in preservation of blood but also in revitalizing the physically and chemically stressed erytherocytatory membranes. It was determined that the laser therapy decreases the viscosity of blood thus increasing the electrophoreticmobility of erythrocytes. The improvement in microcirculation is a result of all the above factors and dynamics.

Scientific bases and evidence support LLLT and red LED irradiation of the blood for lowering high blood pressure.

Poor blood viscosity, RBC aggregation and poor rheology either independently or collectively, are linked to cardiovascular diseases. Neumann et al claim that, “Plasma viscosity and erythrocyte aggregation were more predictive of myocardial infarction (heart attack) than age, male gender, fibrinogen concentration, abnormal ECG readings, or coronary score.” Another study confirms that high blood viscosity has been associated with cardiovascular related diseases such as stroke, heart attacks and deep vein thrombosis.

There are numerous examples of light induced photochemical reactions in biological systems. Vitamin D synthesis in our skin is an example of a photochemical reaction. The power density of sunlight is only 105 mW/cm2 yet when ultraviolet B (UVB) rays strikes our skin, it converts a universally present form of cholesterol, 7-dehydrocholesterol to vitamin D3.

The National Cancer Institute says that Lasers can be used to shrink or destroy tumors or precancerous growths. Lasers are most commonly used to treat superficial cancers (cancers on the surface of the body or the lining of internal organs) such as basal cell skin cancer and the very early stages of some cancers, such as cervical, penile, vaginal, vulvar, and non-small cell lung cancer.

The use of intravascular laser blood irradiation can be appropriate during conventional oncological treatments. Dr. Frank Andrä reported that, “Merely as a result of the sole application of intravascular laser therapy, the quantity of circulating tumour cells was reduced and the patient’s pathological immune response modulated in the direction of the standard. Intravascular laser blood irradiation changes mitochondria morphologically and activates metabolic energy processes.”

Medical scientists around the world are using and experimenting with laser light to cure cancer. There are many different techniques. Near Infrared (NIR) has been shown to induce DNA double-strand breaks and apoptosis of cancer cells. In one study, a 915nm laser was used to examine the effects of NIR on pancreatic cancer cells. Irradiation of pancreatic cancer cells using the 915nm laser significantly induced caspase‑3 activation and apoptosis.

Blood Deficiency is a ‘syndrome’ in Chinese medicine. Once it arises it tends to be chronic. In other words, it is very hard to get rid of without treatment.

There are two companies that are selling nasal irradiation machines. I have been using a unit made in Eastern Europe called the Bioquant NS and it has the advantage of outputing both lazer light and LED near infrared simultaneosly. The original price is 830,00 EUR for all customers worldwide but for all customers from Dr.Sircus is discount 100,00 EUR (608,33 excluding VAT), Shipment worldwide 50,00 EUR, final price: 780,00 EUR (Bioquant NS 780 EUR including VAT and shipment).

There is also the VieLight machines made in Canada, which are of lower cost but do not allow for multiple outputs. They do not ship laser models to the U.S. but the 633 model, which employs non-laser red light is available for 299.00 and it is reported to work equally as well as a laser model. They have a full line of products and for a 10% discount use “drsircus” as a code.

Now VieLight has come out with two new devices that treat memory loss and neurological conditions.

La Casa and Athleta Have Joined Forces to Spread Wellness Around NYC!

The love marriage event between La Casa and Athleta (our around-the-corner neighbor on 18th Street and 5th Avenue, our favorite sporting clothes store), in celebration of the Summer Solstice, was a huge success. La Casa brought eight different treatments to Athleta, and offered them gratis to all Athleta customers, and those who came specially for the event. We had over 100 people who partook of the event, and of our therapies.

Here is a list of the therapies we provided:

· NuVision Frequency Imbued in Your Own Jewelry
· PEMF (pulsed electromagnetic field)
· BioModulator Energy Assessment
· Lumina Nocturna
· Infrared Sauna
· Energy Blanket
· Light Bath
· BioMat

We bathed together at our lavish Light Bath station. Many spoke enthusiastically about their calming and grounding experience of the BioMat. Our gift of frequency infused jewelry has created effects that will last forever. We took personal items of jewelry and infused tailor-made affirmations to match specific individual needs.

But, the hit of the night was Jane’s usage of the BioModulator assessments. Everyone who partook of this experience was wowed, awed, inspired. As just a few examples, Jane took readings from a five-year-old boy, and asked his mother if he had complained about his left leg. The differential between his left and right legs was striking, and the left leg suggested a high level of inflammation. The mother opened her mouth in utter surprise, and explained that her son had woken up that morning saying that he felt he couldn’t walk on that leg.

Another assessment gave a hyper-thyroid reading, and Jane asked the woman if she had had trouble with her thyroid. The woman explained that she was on thyroid medication because her thyroid was too low. Since the reading showed hyper (high), as opposed to hypo (low) thyroid activity, Jane suggested that she go to her physician and ask for a re-assessment to see if the dosage was too high.

Just one other example: Jane got a low reading on a woman’s colon, and asked if she had been having trouble with digestion. The woman explained that she had been treated recently for Lyme with antibiotics, and had had trouble with her digestion ever since.

This usage of the BioModulator, as an assessment tool, is one of the many ways it can be used. It is, as well a powerful healing device, created by Jerry Tennant, who I have written about in the past.

The event at Athleta was such a memorable day that it has inspired us to take La Casa’s treatments beyond 20th St. We look forward to finding other venues to duplicate the experience, for more to benefit from.

We will be back at Athleta Saturday, July 15, 12pm-4pm.

If you’re in NY, come by and visit and partake of all our free therapies and gifts too.Our give-away included (and will include at the next event as well) free sample of the scientifically documented Pain Relief patches by Luminas.Thermagraphic imaging has documented significant reduction of inflammation from use of the patches. They are available on Amazon, or free for all clients of La Casa and attendees to the La Casa/Athleta events.

AOL Pays a Visit to La Casa Spa & Wellness Center!

AOL recently paid a visit to La Casa and talked to Jane about some of the healing holistic services the we offer. You can check out the full video by clicking the image below.

Airbnb Users are still LOVING La Casa de Vida Natural

(in Puerto Rico).

We now have 3 rooms available, and have had so many interesting guests.

Since we opened the doors of the gorgeous little cottage on site at La Casa Holistic Health Center in Rio Grande, Puerto Rico, positive reviews have been flooding Airbnb about what it’s like to stay there.

People have been truly blown away by staying in the stunning El Yunque rainforest, facing gorgeous ocean views, just minutes from the beach.

Here are just some of things guests have said about their visits:

Such hospitable people! They stayed up late for us to check in and walked us to our little condo on the property. At breakfast they gave us coffee, fresh grown papaya and bananas, as well as coconuts before we ventured to the rainforest. Lovely people with great views and quiet ambience. Only the frogs and crickets could be heard. Amazing.

I stayed at the cottage at La Casa de Vida Natural for one night on the way from San Juan to the other side of the island. We wanted to be very close to the rainforest to explore during our PR vacation. The cottage is adorable and cozy – has a full kitchen if you need to cook! The grounds are lush with greenery and there is land to explore! It is a bit off-the-beaten-path, but that is what we were looking for. Our host was easy to communicate with and gave us a tour upon arrival, but otherwise we were able to keep to ourselves.
               Mary Alexander

Loved this place! The cottage was bright, spacious, and cheerful. The decor gave a sense of being at home. Surroundings were beautiful, relaxing, and a great accompaniment for a day exploring El Yunque. The host was super helpful and attentive, even responding to us in the early morning when we realized we had forgotten to pack soap. Would definitely book again if we come back to El Yunque in the future.                                                       Andi

“La Casa was a great place. The location is in the rain forest and very close to the wedding venue I was going to, Hacienda Siesta Alegre. I took a warm shower and went to bed. I feel asleep to the sounds of the forest. It was so nice. When I woke up in the morning I really didn’t want to leave. The only thing that may be a concern is that its a natural place, I didn’t see an A/C which may be a turn off for some but wasn’t a big deal to me. I was able to relax, have a beer on the porch and listen the the forest. Very nice way to start the afternoon.”

Dr. Ted Balfour…

Dr. Ted Balfour is a dentist specializing in facial redevelopment. Jane has been wearing an appliance he designed for several years, and says that the difference in her face is “quite astonishing.”

To watch Dr. Balfour explain the importance of facial relaxation, just click the image below.

Paul Nelson…

Jane recently talked to Paul Nelson in hopes of filming him for her Make It To 120 blog. Paul is a prime candidate, given that he just turned 101 on May 31 (in an odd coinicidence, Jane shares Paul’s birthday, an exact 30 year difference).

Paul has said many things about why he has lived as long and healthily as he has, including his marriage to a stupendous woman, as well as having a life-style wherein he is constantly moving his body. But Paul also gives a possible explanation for his longevity to the low-dose radiation exposure he received while working on the Manhattan Project — yet one more piece of evidence to support the theory of the health benefits of low-level radiation, as laid out in Jane’s book, The Hormesis Effect.

Abigail Wright interviewed Paul for her

NPR Discusses Link Between Times of Political Strife and Increase in Holistic Health Practices

In a fantastic article titled, “Politics Stressing You Out? Alternative Medicine Is Ready to Help (Again)”, WNYC News notes:

Alternative medicine had long filled a gap for those excluded from mainstream health care. In poor communities of color, where drug epidemics and medical discrimination were widespread, the Black Panthers and other groups popularized things like acupuncture and herbal remedies. Now, with Obamacare in limbo and politically-induced stress on the rise, alternative care is seeing a renaissance in parts of New York where holistic care isn’t a luxury—it’s a necessity.

We’re proud to say that La Casa has been serving the entire population of NYC for 24 years now, attracting residents from as far away as Harlem and the Bronx, even in the earliest days of our being open.

We believe this is because of our very reasonable prices for services with proven track records of ameloirating many disease conditions.

UIO: You Inside Out

Jane was recently interviewed, alongside her smart and beautiful daughter Molly, by Sonja Lewis who hosts “UIO (You Inside Out): The Podcast for Girls.” In it, they discuss mental health and the importance of open communication between parents and children.

You can listen by clicking HERE.

Listen to the iconic Colin Campbell talk about his seminal, extraordinary research, The China Study, and other pertinent facts about the necessity of eating a plant-based diet. Talk was held at Steve Feldstein’s always interesting Businessman’s Roundtable. Forgive Jane’s hand-held iPhone wobbling.

La Casa Spa and Wellness Center was created out of the experience one woman had with her mother. Long before holistic medicine became widely known, Dr. Jane Goldberg spent the 1970s seeking alternative cancer therapies for her mother, who had been diagnosed with terminal bone cancer. Following sound principles of holistic health, Jane’s mother was able to reverse her cancer condition entirely, moving from her wheelchair to joyfully playing tennis again. This experience inspired Jane to specialize in her psychoanalytic practice to work with cancer patients, and to fulfill the need for a holistic healing center in NYC. Jane and La Casa invite you to partake of the restorative and profoundly cleansing therapies that have brought La Casa world-wide recognition.
